A life coach’s method for setting weekly intentions
You can find the companion guide to this blog post through this link
Step one: Reflect
Look back on last week and the way it made you feel. Maybe you felt aimless, or maybe you felt fulfilled. Awareness around the way the past week felt will help you decide if you want to build upon what you’ve already created or tweak your approach.
Every week is a chance to start over.
Step two: Evaluate
Write down every single thing you know you have going on this week; blank paper is one of my favorite planning resources, or you can use the guide I’ve created. In addition to writing down what is happening, write down the prep- if a friend has a birthday, do you want to give this person a gift? A card? If you need to go grocery shopping, what do you need to buy?
Step three: Set One Goal
This goal can be layered (aka do something x amount of times), but think about one thing you can do that would move the needle forward on your dreams. This allows you to rest in knowing you’re doing enough. I even recommend adding a reward for successfully achieving your goal.
Planning and setting goals is one way you can take charge of your life. As someone who has previously struggled with perfectionism / anxiety, I like the way this structure makes me feel. It takes the pressure off deciding in the moment, and keeping with the things you say you want to do builds confidence. Confidence is the ability to trust yourself no matter what life throws your way, so while you can’t control everything, you are doing your part to set yourself up for success.
